n May 13th the City of Norman and the Norman Police Department will be asking the taxpayers to approve a ½-cent temporary sales tax for 40 additional Police officers.
 
What this means for Public Safety in Norman is the ability to improve the response to the citizens needed to Save Lives and Protect Property. This ½% is critical to catch Norman up to the minimum levels of Public Safety standards. Police officers are there when you need them the most, an automobile accident, security incidents in your Home or Business; your Protection from Crime and Criminals. We are there for you, “911”!

“For half a penny, Norman can add 41 additional officers to protect our families, neighborhoods, businesses, streets, and parks. We do not have enough police officers to serve the citizens of Norman. Last year we had one officer for every 815 people and investigated 15832 criminal incidents. Half a penny is a small price to pay to keep our community safe.” - Stephen A. Lucas, Police Officer
